As we discussed in our previous blog on the benefits of PRP for skin rejuvenation and healing, let’s take a closer look at how PRP is being used as an alternative to hair stimulation and regrowth.

PRP is an excellent alternative to hair transplant or other evasive treatments; it promotes blood supply, nutrients and stimulation to the hair follicle producing regrowth and protein to the hair shaft naturally.

Is PRP safe to treat on the scalp?

Absolutely it is safe to treat on the scalp; in fact it provides essential nutrients that the hair follicle lacks during hair loss by directly injecting the hair follicles.

How many treatments are required?

Just like any other medical procedure the amount of treatments required will be guided and supervised by our medical professional. Careful consideration and hair loss stages are taken into consideration prior to treatment plans; every client has their own unique state and may require more or less treatments depending on the individual needs and outcome. Typical treatments are required every 4-6 weeks apart with maintenance treatments every 4-6 months.

How long does the procedure take?

The procedure itself doesn’t take very long, it is the 3 step process of the blood going through the centrifuge that separates the fluids of different densities; that requires a little more time. Anticipate being in for the entire service for about 30-45 min.

What are the side effects?

PRP therapy involves injecting your own blood into your scalp; you aren’t at risk for contracting a communicable disease, but any therapy that involves injections always carries a risk of side such as, blood vessels or nerve injury, infection, calcification at the injection point and or scar tissue. Be sure to always state all medications you’re on before treatment.

Keep in mind that treatment may be refused if you are on blood thinners, a heavy smoker and if you have a history of drug or alcohol misuse.
